ID4AFRICA 2025

ABOUT ID4AFRICA 2025

The Organizer

Founded in 2014, ID4Africa is an Identity-for-All Movement dedicated to helping African nations develop robust and responsible identity ecosystems for socio-economic advancement, digital development and humanitarian action. The Movement serves as the voice of Africa, ensuring that the Continent’s needs and realities are well represented in the global discourse on development. It champions Identity-for-All both as a legal right (consistent with SDG 16.9) and a practical necessity for empowering people in their daily lives. The Movement believes inclusive identity schemes, built on the respect of human rights and privacy, are crucial for economic growth and for digital development.  It unites the global identity community to advance the ID4D agenda, and to explore how digital identity and aligned services can support Africa’s socio-economic development and individual empowerment.

Throughout the year, ID4Africa assesses Africa’s needs and priorities through ongoing engagements with our 48 Member countries and curate our findings into trustworthy knowledge that is disseminated through our convening platforms – the AGM & LiveCasts.

Visit the ID4Africa Institutional website for further details about the organization: www.id4africa.com.

The Host

The Office of the Prime Minister (PMO) serves as Ethiopia’s central executive office, responsible for coordinating and implementing government policies, programs, and national priorities. As a key advisory and operational body, the PMO supports the Prime Minister in leading national initiatives, fostering inter-ministerial collaboration, and driving the country’s strategic vision. It plays a critical role in policy development, national security, and economic planning, ensuring alignment with Ethiopia’s long-term development goals and promoting effective governance for sustainable growth.

Overseeing the cabinet of ministers, several government agencies, the PMO was restructured in 2021 to enhance its efficiency. As part of this restructuring, the National ID Program (NIDP) was re-established under the PMO. The program is spearheading the rollout of Ethiopia’s first digital identity, known as Fayda, with the goal of providing digital IDs to 70 million residents by the end of 2025, enabling inclusive access to basic services across the country.

The AGM

The ID4Africa Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the premier platform for knowledge sharing, driving the ID4D agenda across the continent. Held in a different country each year, it unites 2000+ identity stakeholders from around the globe to jointly advance Africa’s ID4D agenda. Since the inaugural event in 2015, this dynamic event has grown to become the largest gathering of its kind, attracting record participation from decision-makers representing African governments, development organizations, industry, civil society and others, from around the globe, all seeking reliable knowledge.

The AGM brings together the brightest minds, boldest innovators, and leading experts under one roof to address Africa’s priorities. It offers unparalleled opportunities for capacity building, problem-solving, networking, and collaboration, fostering active engagement in thought-provoking discussions. These insights empower African governments to inform their decision-making processes, shaping the future of ID4D as a catalyst for socio-economic development across the continent.

The ID4Africa AGM champions diverse, unbiased approaches to all aspects of identity development, empowering countries to explore solutions tailored to their unique contexts, needs and sovereignty. It fosters inclusive dialogue, ensuring all stakeholders are heard and countries can choose strategies that fit their realities.
