This conference demonstrates year after year how rapidly identification systems across Africa have evolved and how far countries have progressed in their digital transformation journeys.

The AGM brought together government institutions, industry leaders, development partners, and identity experts from across Africa to exchange innovative ideas and practical solutions for advancing inclusive and secure digital identity systems. The sessions were insightful, well organized, and highly relevant to the evolving needs of identity ecosystems across the continent. I particularly appreciated the opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and learning from successful country experiences. ID4Africa continues to play an important role in supporting African nations in building trusted, inclusive, and people-centered identity systems that contribute to improved service delivery, digital transformation, and socio-economic development.”

Attending the ID4Africa 2026 AGM was a valuable experience. I particularly appreciated the networking opportunities with stakeholders from different countries and institutions to exchange ideas and learn from successful experiences that can contribute to strengthening identification systems in our country. ID4Africa continues to play a significant role in promoting cooperation, innovation, and capacity building in the identity ecosystem across the continent.

This event reaffirmed the importance of inclusive identity systems in achieving sustainable development, particularly SDG 16.9 on legal identity for all. RITA benefited from valuable discussions and practical lessons on digital identity, interoperability, and citizen-centered services. We commend ID4Africa for continuing to champion collaboration and innovation toward stronger identity ecosystems across Africa.

The 2026 ID4Africa AGM agenda continued to demonstrate Africa’s collective commitment to building secure, inclusive, and trusted digital identity ecosystems that empower citizens and strengthen governments. As a technology leader and digital transformation advocate, I have witnessed how ID4Africa is shaping conversations around DPI, ID4D, cybersecurity, innovation, and citizen-centered service delivery across the continent. The collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships fostered through this initiative are instrumental in accelerating Africa’s digital future. ID4Africa 2026 is not just a conference — it is a movement driving inclusive development, economic empowerment, and technological sovereignty for Africa.

For the Government of Lesotho, as we advance initiatives in DPI, KPI, Digital ID, and cyber related matters, this conference has been a real eye-opener. Very informative. We connected with peers from different countries whose insights will support our implementation journey.

This year’s conference was once again outstanding! Covering highly relevant and timely issues, it provided important information. To put together such an agenda with such quality speakers is an incredible challenge and the team delivered it with aplomb.

ID4Africa remains the premier platform for stakeholders in identity and related matters to converge, learn, unlearn, network, and engage with vendors in pursuit of solutions to identity-related challenges. It offers timely and relevant discussions on emerging trends, innovations, and policy developments in the identity ecosystem. The 2026 edition left me enriched with new knowledge, fresh perspectives, and an even stronger professional network.

The conference provided great learning opportunities for us as a relatively new DPA.

My biggest takeaway was seeing how countries across Africa are defying different operational and resource challenges to build trusted identity systems that improve governance, streamline access to services, strengthen inclusion, and support everyday life. It was also refreshing to see countries openly sharing not only successes, but also operational challenges, lessons learned, sustainability concerns, and the realities of implementation. Equally visible was the growing wave of innovation aimed at simplifying, securing, and redefining identity systems for the better. The discussions reinforced the importance of building systems that are trusted, inclusive, sustainable, interoperable, and people-centered.

This annual event is an eye-opening and a unifying force for Africa. It provides an equal platform for sharing successes and exchanging on notes. It is a ship which carries Africa forward. This AGM is a must-attend. It fosters active participation by members and creates a sense of accountability through these annual updates. My attendance this year at Abidjan lifted me up as an ID authority for my country.

ID4Africa 2026 highlighted that, among both speakers and attendees, there is still significant confusion between digital identity, unique identifiers, and physical ID credentials. The discussions reinforced the importance of clarifying these concepts, as digital identity is far more than a card or a number, it is a trusted ecosystem built on interoperability, governance, security, and user-centric services. Building this common understanding will be essential for the success of Africa’s DPI initiatives.

This event has strengthened our perspective on building resilient and citizen-centric digital identity frameworks in Nigeria and across Africa. I highly recommend the ID4Africa AGM to any stakeholder committed to leveraging digital identity for inclusive socio-economic progress.
